Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua has put on notice incompetent and nonperforming county employees warning that they will be identified and sent packing.
Speaking on Thursday at Kathiani sub-county Referral Hospital where he suspended senior officers in the hospital over incompetence, the governor warned that any employee who fails to deliver as is in line with his manifesto will get the axe.
"The message I am sending is clear; any employee of Machakos county who does not think through how to make life easier for the people of Machakos to serve the people of Machakos that person has no room in my government," the governor warned.
"But the person who works hard, thinks outside the box, who is dedicated to improving the welfare of our people going out of their way, that staff member will get promoted, will get financial rewards, we will even take them abroad and motivate them to work harder, but lazy and lethargic people have no place in Machakos county," he added.
The cautionary note by the governor comes weeks after he interdicted two Chief Officers and suspended 36 officers in the Ministry of Water over what he termed as "gross incompetence."
