Speaking during his tour of Olkalao in Nyandarua county, Mutua termed the expulsion as a cowardly move and said he would not waver in his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.

"Mimi nime furahi sana. Nilikuwa kule kwingine maana nilianza na chama cha wiper Lakini nilifukuzwa huko na wakanitukana kwa sababu nime simama na rais Uhuru Kenyatta,"  which loosely translates to: " I am very happy. I was on that other side since I began with Wiper but was chased because I opted to stand with President Uhuru Kenyatta," he said.

"Whether they like it or not, I will stand and support Uhuru's re-election," he added.

Mutua was among the six ‘rebels’ kicked out of the Wiper party by the disciplinary committee after it was established they did not have the interests of the party at heart.
