Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has said that his government has made a great milestone in the fight against food shortage in the county because of shunning politics of sycophancy. 

The Maendeleo Chap Chap movement leader said that he is proud to note that the county is no longer among the area earmarked for the distribution of relief food because he has been keen on the welfare of the lives of the residents rather than politics. He also said that he looked for ways to transform the county after he was elected the county boss for the first time in 2013

“Today, thanks to God's grace and the initiatives that my Government started in Agriculture, Machakos is no longer in the list of Counties that receive food relief. We have succeeded because we shunned regressive sycophancy and did what we were elected to do: Serve wananchi” he said on social media.

The governor also said that he has invested in different sectors of the in a bid to end the food shortage menace. Some of the areas he cited include free tractor, free seed, fruit production, fertilizer subsidy, Greenhouse, Indigenous chicken and pasture improvement projects.
