Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has revealed the reason why most Kenyans are languishing in poverty.
In an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, Mutua blamed the condition on self-centered politicians whom he accused of refraining from healthy politics.
"Most of our political leaders are only interested in politics and not development as supposed, they only remember development when at the end. They are the type that will spend a huge percentage of their time in office in politicking and spend only a little time on development," said Mutua.
"Our politics is based on tribalism and power for a few individuals who don't care about the lives of millions of poor Kenyans." "This is the reason why we cannot match the American, European or Japanese kind of politics because theirs is based on policies and changing lives," added Mutua.
Governor Mutua however, termed himself as an exception.
