Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has lashed out on some Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) allegedly plotting his ouster.
Speaking on Saturday, Mutua said he is not afraid and will courageously face those planning for his removal, saying he will not be moved by leaders who care less on the problems facing the people.
“I am not afraid of being impeached, I stand for the people who elected me to office,” said Mutua.
Over the weekend, Ndalani MCA Peter Muthuka said the motion to impeach Governor Mutua will be tabled in the assembly soon.
While addressing residents on Saturday at Machakos town, Muthuka said Governor Mutua has failed the locals, adding that the county government, under the leadership of Mutua has neglected its responsibilities.
Governor Mutua said that his zeal to empower residents has annoyed some leaders, who are keen to bring him down.
Mutua noted that his agenda is to transform the lives of residents by fighting poverty, which he said is the main problem facing the county.
The Governor however maintained that he will only work with leaders who are development oriented.
He added that he has no time for petty politics, which he said has seen the county lag behind in terms of development.
Mutua asked residents to support his government, as it strives to better their livelihoods.
