The Machakos County government has sacked 137 employees of the Finance Department.
The employees who had been suspended were found culpable after Governor Alfred Mutua ordered an audit in the department.
The county boss added that some of them will be charged in court with criminal offences.
Mutua, however, announced the county has reinstated 204 other employees who were not vindicated by the report.
"Those reinstated will report to the Machakos Social Hall on Monday for redeployment as the department is being reorganised to improve efficiency, especially in revenue collection and accountability," he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
Mutua ordered the audit in August after residents complained of ineptitude and corruption in the Finance Department.
"No revenue collector will serve in one station for more than two years in a drive to curb corruption," Mutua told journalists in his office, Thursday.
