In an interview on Milele Radio on Thursday, the county chief rubbished any possibilities of him playing second fiddle to other aspirants.

He laughed off probabilities of deputizing either Deputy President William Ruto or Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Mutua, however, said that he will be reaching out to the two, and any other relevant leaders, in search for support in line with his bid.

''I will be on the ballot as a presidential candidate and nothing else. This, however, does not mean that I will not consult with the two. I must and will reach out to them for support,'' he said.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party boss also bashed the Jubilee government accusing it of propagating the unhealthy culture of successive politics.

This comes at a time when the government, under President Uhuru Kenyatta, is grooming Deputy President William Ruto to take over after him, in line with an alleged agreement between the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities.

However, according to Mutua, this is a wrong move that could further stall the nation's progress.

''We have to do away with the culture of successive politics. There is no part of our constitution that says that we must vote this candidate because he supported our candidate in the past elections. This will only further slow our development progress,'' he added.
