Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has lashed out at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's son nomination to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Speaking on Saturday at the Machakos People's Park, the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader accused the former Vice President of advancing selfish leadership and nepotism.
"It is a shame that the Wiper leader is even pushing for his son to be nominated for the EALA post. These shows that they care very little about the rest of the people," he said.
Kennedy Musyoka's nomination to EALA by Wiper Party has brewed a political debate in the country, with the matter eliciting mixed reactions.
Wiper Party, through Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has since defended its decision to nominate the Kalonzo Jnr, maintaining that he is qualified for the job.
Last week, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale threatened to lead parliament in rejecting Kalonzo's nomination, accusing the Opposition of advancing nepotism.
“We want to tell the country, you can see the leadership that Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka are bringing to Kenya. They talk about inclusivity, they deride Jubilee as composed of two tribes, now their government would be one of their own families," he said.
