Governor of Machakos county Dr Alfred Mutua has stated that his government has set aside Sh200 million for Cancer drugs and equipment purchase.

Speaking on Thursday afternoon during the launch of the Cancer Awareness the governor expressed his support to ensure affordable cancer treatment is attained. 

"My support for the health of people in Machakos county remains firm that's why in conjunction with the national government have joined hands to eliminate cancer. My government has set aside Sh200 million for cancer treatment," said Mutua.

The Machakos County Cancer Awareness Campaign was being launched in Kimutwa Primary School by the Machakos First lady Lillian Nganga. 

Nganga reiterated her call for early screening stating light and hope for the early detection of cancer. 

"Our insistence on cancer awareness and early screening has not been in vain as many people have benefited from the sensitization," said Nganga.

The event was attended by many political leaders including Machakos town MP Dr Victor Munyaka, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, John Munuve of Mwingi North among other MCAs and Machakos County Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairlady Francisca Mutinda.
