Speaking in Kitui during his tour to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mutua lashed out at a section of leaders from different parts of the nation who have been calling him a traitor as he fights to liberate his community from water shortages and other problems that have made the region to lag behind when it comes to matters of development.

The flamboyant governor said that our forefathers will be left in deep shock to wake up and find the problem of water shortage still unsolved yet there are leaders who have been in power for decades.

"It is a pity that our forefathers were born in dust without water and even now our children are born in dust without water. And when development-conscious leaders come up with mitigation measures, they are branded betrayers," Mutua said, as quoted by The Star.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap boss also noted that politics of poverty no longer have a place in the modern society hence leaders should look for other ways to convince the people to vote for them come 2017.

"Time for politics that add no value to the lives of our people is long gone. I am willing and ready to lead the region to prosperity," he said.
