Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has issued a directive to striking doctors to report to work failure to which they will be sacked.

Mutua also revealed that plans are underway to import doctors from foreign countries on Thursday morning to offer services to the suffering patients in the event that the doctors remain defiant.

He said that his government has intentions to recruit new doctors from different nations including Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt and India in order to replace the striking doctors.

“I have told striking doctors that the curse of patients who died because they are on strike will be on their heads forever,” said the governor, as quoted by Nairobinews.

Mutua’s remarks after the government failed to agree with the doctors over a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) despite having held talks for more than three months.

Speaking during the officially opening the fourth devolution conference in Naivasha, President Uhuru Kenyatta lost his temper on Tuesday after failing to agree with doctors over their salary compelling him to order them to resume work failure to which an action will be taken against them over the same.

“Hawa watu wanafikiria sisi ni wajinga (These people think we are foolish),” said Mr Kenyatta.

He added: “If this round of talks fails… we will sort them out,” he said.
