Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua has organized a meeting with different leaders from Ukambani with the aim of charting the way forward for the community.

The meeting comes a few days after National Super Alliance (NASA) unveiled Cord leader Raila Amolo as the presidential candidate and Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka his running mate.

The move has attracted different reactions from Ukambani leaders. National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze has claimed that the community was given a raw deal.

Mutua has said that different leaders from the region have asked him to convene a meeting so that they can decide on their next move ahead of the August general polls.

“I have been requested by leaders and wananchi from Makueni, Kitui, Machakos, Taveta, Mombasa, Kwale and other areas to convene urgent leaders meeting to chart the way forward for the Akamba Nation because our people have suffered for too long and want to see real not false tribal euphoria. Wananchi wetu wamechoka Kuenjoiwa ,” said Mutua, as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.

On his part, Kalonzo has asked the community to back Raila to ascend to power in the forthcoming general elections and wait for his turn in 2022.
