Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Thursday launched a Sh.400, 000,000 fund in a bid to promote education in the county.  The higher education scholarship program is expected to help all students who want to pursue post-secondary higher education and skill training.

The county boss said that his government will pay fees for the students whose parents are registered voters in the county. He also assured the residents that his government is committed to making the county a better place in different areas including education.

“As promised in my campaign manifesto, my government will pay school fees for all Machakos students who wish to pursue post-secondary higher education and skill training,” said Governor Mutua, as quoted by Standard.

He also revealed that the county government will cater for 100 per cent fee for all students who will qualify under the new program.

“We will pay 100 percent fees for certificate, advanced certificate, diploma, higher diploma and first degree.”

The students must also be admitted in accredited institutions before they can benefit from the program. The second term county pledged to leave no stone unturned during tenure in office as he seeks to change the lives of the residents. He also promised other areas including health, infrastructure and water among others.
