Speaking in Machakos during President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit, Mutua said there were two types of politics in Kenya; that of poverty and development.

Mutua said he supports that of development, arguing that he did not want relief food in his county hence need to empower members of the public to be self reliant.

He revealed there were lots of bad politicians in the country who propelled politics of poverty at the expense of the common wananchi.

The governor said his government was committed to providing services to its residents, terming it “Maendeleo chap! Chap!’’

“We are interested in working and providing for our residents only. We do not want to engage in politics from January to January and forget delivering to the people who elected us,” said Mutua.

His sentiments were echoed by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and former Kibwezi legislator Kalembe Ndile, who said they were in support of the Jubilee government.

Makau commended the president for his commitment and exemplary work of improving Kenyans livelihoods through various development projects initiatives across the nation.

He said the president has a right to visit and initiate projects in all the 47 counties since he is the chief executive officer of the entire nation, not a section of the country.

The two legislators further asked President Kenyatta to support Governor Mutua to initiate projects that would improve livelihoods of the residents.

They called on the residents to embrace the Jubilee government and shun retrogressive politics that would interfere with the region’s development.
