Governor Alfred Mutua has challenged road users to exercise caution to help reduce road accidents.
The call comes days after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) reported a rise in road carnage.
Speaking on Thursday during his visit to Kyengo kya Aka village, Maweli in Mwala Sub-County where he comforted families and friends of the people who were involved in a road accident at Tawa, Makueni County last week, Mutua attributed the increase in road accidents to carelessness among motorists.
"I appeal to motorists to be extra cautious on the roads especially at night so as to avert causing accidents," Mutua said.
"Lets continue praying for the affected families during this difficult moment of grief. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace," he added.
