Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Leader Dr Alfred Mutua has called upon state agencies to undertake lifestyle audit on all elected leaders and government officials.
Speaking to the press after attending service at the Kanyuambora Anglican Church, Mutua urged state agencies not to target governors alone in the fight against runaway graft in the nation but also focus leaders elected in different posts and government officials.
The Machakos Governor said that the fight against increased cases of corruption in the government will not bear fruits if double standards are applied.
“We have seen MPs; Senators and senior government officials amass wealth overnight. They should also be probed,” said Mutua, as quoted by Capital FM.
According to Mutua, he was the first Governor to be taken through the lifestyle audit process adding that he personally deposited his returns to the antigraft agencies.
He further urged other leaders in the nation to follow suit in order to make the fight against this vice successful. “We must lead by example and offer transformative leadership to our people,” said Mutua.
The outspoken governor held rallies at Ishiara, Kanyuambora, Kiritiri, Siakago, and Gategi towns. He was accompanied by Embu deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi, Mbeere North MP Charles Njagangua and Emilio Kathuri.
