Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has warned county staff engaging in scandalous activities and those who fail to perform their duties.

Speaking to the press at his office on Tuesday, Mutua said that lazy and corrupt workers will not be tolerated.

He said that county staff must adhere to the Chapter Six of the Constitution that touches on matters integrity.

“Machakos county workers should dedicate their time to serve the people, we are going to be tough on those that neglect their duties,” he warned.

Mutua observed that the county spends huge part of its budget on paying salaries and wages and that workers must perform effectively.

The Governor revealed that measures have been put in place to ensure that workers perform on their duties.

He said it is the right of the public to demand services from the county officials.

“Machakos people should feel free and demand services from us,” he said.

The county boss pledged to fast-track development projects in order to boost the living standards of the people.

Mutua appealed to county administrators to work closely with him especially in formulation and implementation of projects.

He said the administrators are the representative of the county at the grass root level and must attend to the issues facing the local people.
