Addressing residents in Machakos Town on Thursday, the Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party leader alleged that some NASA leaders are inciting locals to violence ahead of repeat presidential election.
He said that NASA is afraid of losing the Kamba votes and has resulted to intimidation tactics.
“It is unfortunate that some respected NASA leaders are inciting our people against the Jubilee government,” he said as quoted by the Star, adding that politics is a competition that every player has to respect his or her opponent.
Governor Mutua said that Jubilee Party has a right to sale its agenda in Ukambani and other parts of the country without its supporters being intimidated.
Mutua said that his recent heckling in Tala town was orchestrated by some politicians allied to NASA.
He claimed that some NASA politicians in Ukambani are paying young people to heckle their opponents and cause violence.
While condemning recent attacks on some Jubilee politicians in Mwingi, the Machakos governor called for political maturity saying that politics is not a matter of life and death. He also called for tolerance among the political class across the divide ahead of the repeat presidential election.
Governor Mutua is among Kamba politicians campaigning for UhuRuto in Ukambani ahead of repeat presidential poll.
Others campaign got Uhuru in Ukambani are former Kitui senator David Musila, former MP Joe Mutambu, Regina Ndambuki and others.
Both NASA and Jubilee are jostling for Ukambani votes ahead of the repeat presidential poll.
The Ukambani region overwhelmingly voted for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the recently concluded August 8 presidential poll that was early this month nullified by the Supreme Court.
