Mutua warns that the move by some politicians to claim that some regions are their strongholds will create chaos as the country gears up to the August general election.
Speaking in Embu town on Saturday during a meet the people tour, Governor Mutua said that politicians do not own any region in the country.
The Machakos governor said that some regions are experiencing tension because of zoning by politicians.
“Politicians must stop zoning the country because no one owns any region in this country,” he said adding that political aspirants eyeing seats must focus on preaching unity.
Mutua asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take legal action against politicians who are zoning the country.
Governor Mutua added that every aspirant has a right to campaign in any part of the country.
He condemned cases where some politicians are chased away while campaign in some regions adding that the move if not tamed will cause problems for the country before, during and after the August polls.
A section of Jubilee and National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have openly declared some regions as their political strongholds as the country heads to the August 8 general election.
