Machakos residents have been warned against buying International Livestock Research Institute, ILRI, land at Konza.

Alfred Mutua, Machakos County governor told the press on Monday that some people have already been conned over Sh50 million.

Mutua said the court issued an order to restrain people from interfering with the ranch and asked police to help in enforcing the order.

“Kapiti land is not on sale and anyone buying it will be in trouble because the land doesn’t belong to anyone but to ILRI” said the county boss.

He faulted Mavoko MP Patrick Makau for supporting residents to acquire 32, 000 acres of the land.

Mutua said no one should invade the land after some people were involved in the Syokimau and Portland Land sale saga.

The governor’s warning comes just a day after Mavoko MP said the land should be allocated to residents to develop it because it is a residential area for Konza Technocity.
