Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said Kenyans have moved on from the kingpin syndrome where they would vote for leaders from their tribes.
Mutua noted that Kenyans were now enlightened and only ready to vote for politicians who will transform their lives.
"Kenyans have moved on. Before, it used to be politics of kingpins where Kenyans would remain poor forever but still vote for the kingpins," he told KTN News on Monday.
"The policies have changed. The citizens now believe in politics that can transform their lives," he added.
Mutua insisted that he was receiving the defectors to his party because it is the only political outfit the leaders could use to develop the country.
He expressed that the principles of the Maendeleo Chap Chap were the key to wooing leaders to his party.
"Leaders have realised that they usually promise development and it is our party that can deliver that," he said.
"We are a fair and a democratic party based on integrity, togetherness and providing Kenyans with their rights," he added.
