Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has dared the county MCAs to proceed with their impeachment threat against him vowing not to be cowed into accepting their corruption demands.

Mutua termed the impeachment threat as an arm-twist and blackmail by the MCAs for refusing to give them cash to fund their next years' campaigns.

“I am told that some MCAs are planning to impeach me because I have refused to fund their campaigns in the coming elections. I want to tell them to proceed with their plans because the only money I have is for development,” said Mutua.

However, the Assembly's minority leader Thomas Kasoa denied Mutua's allegations accusing the Governor of refusing to release funds meant for bursary, Ward development and completion of stalled projects.

“We are asking the governor to provide the piped water that he promised to each household; we are asking him to give bursaries to our children, complete the stalled ECD centres and the market shades,” Kasoa said.

Out of 59 Machakos MCAs, forty-six have appended their signatures in a petition to impeach Mutua.
