Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has urged marginalised groups in the county to grab the 30 per cent tenders set aside for them and do business with the government.

Mutua said that marginalised groups are not applying for the 30 per cent tenders reserved them.

He encouraged women, youths and persons living with disabilities to come out and seek the tenders saying that it is the only they will get empowered social economically.

“We want to urge marginalised groups across Machakos to seek the government tenders and do business with the government,” said Mutua during the Ukambani Professionals meeting held at the Machakos stadium  on Saturday.

The Machakos Governor said that his government will support marginalised groups seeking to work with it.

Mutua said that the national and county government has taken various steps towards empowering women, youths and disabled persons.

Governor Mutua also urged youths to apply for the Uwezo Funds noting that the number of young people seeking the Uwezo Fund is still low in most areas across the county.

Mutua said that his government is initiating programmes aimed at sensitising youths on entrepreneurship.

“We have started programmes to train young people on entrepreneurship and they must come out to be trained,” he said, adding that development of the county lies with entrepreneurship.
