Kathiani MP Robert Mbui claims Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's August 8, 2017 re-election nullification by the Court of Appeal is an indication that he stole his victory.

Mbui said it was evident that the governor didn't win the hotly contested gubernatorial elections freely and fairly.

"Even if you ask people you will be shocked that those claiming to have voted for the 'outgoing' governor are very few. what does that imply, it shows that we cast our votes for our candidate but someone else stole them," Mbui said.

He addressed the press at Ngiini in his constituency on Tuesday.

Mbui said a by-election will be a chance for Machakos people to confirm to Mutua that he never won the last polls.

He exuded confidence that the Wiper party's candidate Wavinya Ndeti will win the by-elections if Machakos electorates return to the ballot as earlier directed by the appellant court.

Mbui told the governor to take this chance and continue with his presidential campaigns and leave the Machakos gubernatorial seat to Ndeti who seems interested in serving her people.

"We Members of Parliament for the past year have been burdened with having to initiate development projects to our people. We are overworking while the governor is busy campaigning for his 2022 presidential bid, why don't he just relinquish his seat and let the chance be taken by someone who's ready to serve the people," Mbui said.

He said even the MCA'S are afraid to face the electorates due to lack of support from the county to execute developments.

Mbui said it's bad that even parents are forced to dig into their pockets to help construct classrooms for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) since the county government is reluctant.

Mbui said Machakos residents haven't been getting value for their tax at all.
