The transformation of National Super Alliance (NASA) into a resistance movement is not only ill-timed but also ill-advised, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said.
According to The Star, Mutua said that the leader of the opposition is fighting hard to rise to power through unconstitutional means, which is not acceptable in this country.
This is after the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga said that he has formed a resistance movement with the aim of mobilizing his supporters and allies to ensure that the Jubilee regime leaves power.
Speaking at at Mathatani Primary School polling station in Mavoko sub-county after casting his vote, Mutua reminded Raila that Kenya is a democratic nation where the rule of law must be respected by all the leaders and citizens.
“Nchi ya Kenya iko chini ya mabavu siyo ukoloni, hiyo ni kama armed resistance (Kenya is under a force, not colonialism. That is like an armed resistance),” Mutua said.
The county boss also warned the opposition leader against pushing for an agenda that is likely to turn the nation into a war-torn nation after the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win by the Supreme Court.
“Do we want to be like Somalia, Southern Sudan and other war-torn countries? Kenyans can’t be refugees in their own country,” he said.
