Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has asked National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga and his supporters to obey the law before, during and after the rerun.

The county boss said that the nation cannot be turned into a banana republic because of persons who want to satisfy their personal interests.

He reminded supporters of the opposition to allow those backing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to take part in the election. He was speaking to the press at his office.

"Those opposed to the poll must obey the law. We should not allow the nation to become a banana republic," Mutua said, as quoted by The Star.

The county boss also assured residents who will turn out to vote of security on the election date

"Those who want to vote will have their rights protected. Those who don't want to vote should stay at home," he added.

In the meantime, Raila and his team have insisted that the Thursday exercise is a sham.

The opposition leader has been calling for reforms within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before he can take part in the rerun following the nullification of Uhuru’s win.
