Mitaboni Member of County Assembly Fredrick Mbuva has explained in details reasons as to why Machakos Assembly rejected Governor Alfred Mutua's list of nominees for County Executive Committee Members (CeC's) and Chief Officers (CO's).
Mbuva said he was shocked by governor Mutua's intention to retain his County Executive from the last regime despite being unqualified.
The Ward Representative said that the nominees before the assembly couldn't answer simple questions.
"The nominee for Education didn't know the Principal Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Education or the director of education in Machakos," said Mbuva.
"Even the nominee for Agriculture could not name a few diseases affecting livestock or crops when interviewed and those are the people the governor wants to hold such positions," he added.
Mbuva said the governor is supposed to submit names of County Executives and Chie Officers after 21 days in office but he was reluctant.
It is only after much pushing that the governor submitted five names which were rejected since they didn't have the qualifications, he said.
The Ward Rep. claimed the governor does not follow what the people want but what he thinks is best without consulting the people or the assembly.
He also criticized Mutua for launching the Sh50 million roofing project before seeking the views of the people.
On Wednesday governor Mutua named his list of nominees for CeC's and CO's, adamantly retaining the rejected ones awaiting vetting by the assembly.
