Titled 'Ikamba' the song was uploaded on YouTube days after Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu was accused of inciting residents to burn vehicles ferrying charcoal from the county.

According to Kilonzo, the song by Isaiah and Wakahaka elicits ethnic hatred and the artist should be arrested and charged.

In a letter copied to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo, the senator also wants the song banned in the country.

"I have filed a complaint to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) regarding a song in Kikuyu dialect containing lyrics that are not only inflammatory, insidious but offensive to the Kamba community. Our Country does not need anymore tribal bigotry and ethnic animosity," said Kilonzo on Monday.

The move comes after a section of Kamba leaders led by Kilonzo and the Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua, criticised the song including its authors.Mutua took to Twitter and said:

"KFCB flagged the video titled Ikamba by Isaiah ft Waharaka and YouTube has removed it from online, we regulate content from creation, to distribution, broadcast, exhibition and possession."
