Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has asked Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) not to accept bribes from different leaders in favor of the candidate in the race for the speaker.

Mutula, who won with a landslide during the last general elections, reminded the MCAs of the need of being transparent and honest with their people. He also called upon the leaders to practice good governance since the electorate has bestowed confidence in them.

The senator said that the election of a good speaker will ensure the resources of the county are properly used in the fight to develop the area in the next five years. “We want to ensure that money is used appropriately,” he said, as quoted by Mediamaxnetwork.

Meanwhile, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana was among the county bosses who retained their seats in the last general polls. Kibwana won with a huge margin despite having faced a tight contest between his rivals. Kibwana and Taita Taveta’s Granton Samboja are the only contestants who won their seats on Wiper ticket.

Other strong contestants including Machakos governor aspirant Wavinya Ndeti and Kitui outgoing governor Julius Malombe lost to other political outfits.
