Makueni county Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has alleged that some of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials are working with Jubilee party to remove Wafula Chebukati from office before the October election.

According to Kilonzo Jnr, the election amendment Bills which qualify any of the commissioners as chair is a clear indication of the coup.

The senator also believes the Bills seek to overturn the Supreme Court ruling which called on the forthcoming election to be held in accordance with the existing laws and the constitution.

"There is a coup to remove IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati from office. Its a coup by some of the IEBC commissioners aided by Jubilee and that is why we have the election amendment Bills. The Bills qualify any of the commissioners to be chair," reiterated Kilonzo Jnr.

The lawmaker further criticized the media for failing to air the alleged police brutality at the University of Nairobi where some police officers were seen beating up students for participating in a demonstration.

"Shame on the media for failing to air the situation at the University of Nairobi even though they were present at the scene. Shame on you," added Kilonzo Jnr.

The senator made his remarks on Tuesday in a political discussion on NTV.
