Speaking on the sidelines of an induction process for senators in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Wiper senator said that the new senate will mostly focus on strengthening devolution in the counties adding that they will do everything possible to ensure the national government increases funding to counties.
"We want to ensure that the national government fully supports the devolved units.We will also rally the country and the senate into a referendum of some of the minimum reforms required", he said.
Mutula added that they will strive to ensure the sibling rivalry witnessed between the senate and the national assembly in the formative years of the bicameral parliament is ended.
The senate which is also known as the upper house will on Thursday reconvene after the August 8 polls with new members expected to take the oath of office.
