Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has claimed that Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua defrauded his family cash during his father’s funeral, reports SDE.
A report from the office of the Auditor General shows that the governor, who is defending his seat, signed for signed in person for Sh2.8 million in cash.
The report also shows that the county boss had alleged the amount was meant to be a contribution towards the burial of the late minister and Makueni Senator, claims Mutula has objected.
The senator argues that the amount was not received as alleged, adding that the Mutua should be probed over the loss of the same with immediate effect.
“Mutua purports to have paid for some things during mzee’s funeral, like the sound system and videography. But those things were paid for by my office and I have the receipts,” he said.
The Senator also said that he has receipts of all transactions that took place at the funeral.
“All service providers signed contracts with my office and were paid upon delivery. He only gave me Sh500, 000 in cash, which was accounted for and approved by the funeral committee,” he added.
The legislator, who has been a strong support of Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, wants the governor investigated for using fraudulent ways to acquire cash during the funeral of the minister.
