A public health officer in Kisii South Sub County has said 'Mutura' sellers and roadside food traders will be arrested if they fail to maintain high levels of cleanliness.
Evans Siocha, a medical officer attached at Entanke health center said a crackdown will be done next month to shut down food joints that do not meet the required health standards to operate.
“Food vendors and Mutura sellers who fail to meet the health standards will be arrested for putting lives of residents at risk and have their business premises closed down to curb disease outbreak,” said Siocha.
He urged residents to avoid eating in dirty areas to avoid contradicting diseases associated with dirtiness such as Cholera.
The medic appealed to members of the public to report any food joint operators who do not operate in a clean environment to authorities for immediate action to be taken.
“Residents are in Christmas moods and want to urge everyone to ensure where he or she eats is clean for the purpose of good health.
