A man in Maseno is fighting for his life after angry traders attacked him for failing to pay Sh5 for Mutura he consumed.
The young man suffered several bruises, cuts and swellings all over his head and face.
Witnesses said the man by the name Morris Odhiambo alias Morrio has always been a terror to their business premises as he is fond of picking products and running away with them.
“He always has the tendency of picking other peoples things and not paying for them and he has walked out of me a number of times without paying,” said Joyce Awoko, a business woman.
Some traders proposed that his mental condition be checked to ascertain the allegation of mentally ill but was refuted by most traders who said Morrio acted to be mad in order to get away with his mischievous acts.
Morrio owes his life to the police officers who were alerted on the incident and rescued him almost at point of death as other traders joined in the attack.
OCS, Eric Lang’at condemned the act of the traders taking the law into their hands.
“In future any act like this should be reported to the right authorities failure to which tough measures will be taken against you,” said Lang'at.
