National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has temporarily barred the Orange Democratic Movement from removing its errant MPs from parliamentary committees.
ODM has been removing the rebel lawmakers from House Committees as a way of punishing them for working with the ruling Jubilee Party.
Muturi said the directive will remain until Parliament addresses issues surrounding the appropriate process of discharging an MP from a committee.
"The issue of enforcing party discipline within the House through discharge of members from committees is a serious issue that requires conscious consideration by all," he said on Wednesday.
"I will not admit any further requests for the discharge of any member from a committee unless the whip of the party proposing the action demonstrates that the parliamentary party has given the affected member notice of his or her intended discharge," he said.
The Speaker said political parties must give the perceived rebels a hearing opportunity before action is taken against them.
The leaders ODM discharged from Parliamentary committees are: Ababu Namwamba (Budalangi), John Waluke (Sirisia), Stephen Kariuki (Mathare), Kubai Iringo (Imenti Central) and nominated MP Isaac Mwaura.
