The sitting had been convened to amend the Election (Amendment) Laws 2016. Jubilee MPs wanted it amended to allow use of manual voting and tallying system, if Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system fails in 2017 general polls.

Cord MPs however opposed the amendments, and successfully managed to block it from being approved.

According to Muturi, the two special sittings would be held on Thursday at 9:30am and 2:30pm.

The sitting is to allow MPs debate the Elections Laws Bill 2015 and the Elections Campaign Financing Act 2013.
