National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has reinstated Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi back to Parliament.
Muturi had issued a six-month suspension against the MP, after he declined to abide by his orders to leave Parliament for disrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address in March.
And on Tuesday, Muturi lifted the ban following recommendations by the Powers and Privileges Committee.
The committee said Wandayi's four months outside the chambers were sufficient punishment and that he should be reinstated.
According to The Star, the ODM MP's defiance to the orders from the chair forced Muturi to invoke Standing Order 111.
He was barred from accessing the precincts of Parliament and denied parliamentary privileges including sitting allowances at the committee and in the chamber, and foreign and local travels.
He was also not allowed to use his office and his security was withdrawn.
However, Wandayi moved to the High Court to challenge the decision which the court ruled in his favour.
Muturi, however, declined to implement the court order that set aside his ruling.
