Members of Parliament have been asked to set a side their differences as the 12th Parliament begins.
After his re-election, Speaker Justin Muturi said he was ready to undertake his duties with a high degree of efficiency and impartiality.
Muturi won after garnering 220 votes in the second round of voting.
His competitor, Migudo Awinja, got one vote.
Most MPs allied to the opposition skipped the voting session.
“I submit myself to the will of this House and assure you that I will, as usual, strive to be accessible to every member and ensure that we work together for the well-being of our great nation,” Speaker Muturi said on Thursday.
He asked legislators not to indulge in corrupt deals to maintain the integrity of the House.
