Mututho claimed that the pubs, popularly known as 7up and Dragon had been distributing the liquor in the full blare of the authorities.

According to Mututho, his statistics indicate that over 3000 people have died due to illicit drinks since 2011.

He added that the cropping up of drinking dens in Naivasha, Nakuru, Molo, Elburgon and Gilgil is worrying.

“It is unfortunate that this pub still continue to sell the liquor even after the recommended hours by the government had hence the increased cases of deaths in the area,” he said.

He was speaking to the press in Nakuru town on Tuesday where he challenged the local administrations to speed up the efforts in fighting the illicit liquor.

He pointed out that with the outbreak of Cholera in the county, extreme measures should be taken to curb the brewers.

“The brewing areas are well known to them and some of the brewers are known to be in close relationships with the police and chiefs. We are calling for a swapping of the administrations to ensure that there is no favoritism in the destruction of the brews,” he added.
