Former Naivasha MP John Mututho has denied reports that he has opted out of the 2017 Nakuru county gubernatorial race after he landed a second job as the chairman of the National Transport Licencing Board.
Mututho termed the reports as cheap rumours being propagated by his political opponents who are afraid of facing him at the ballot.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Saturday, Mututho said he is still in the race and the people of Nakuru are the ones to make the final decision on who will be their governor.
He insisted that he will not be bought out of the race by anybody and assured his supporters he will be on the ballot.
"Those saying that Mututho is out of the race should watch this space because they will be shocked. I want to make it clear that I am still in the race to the end and come 2017 I will be a candidate for the county's top seat,"said Mututho.
Mututho added he will officially resign from NACADA and NTLB in February 2017 to concentrate on his bid for the governor's race.
"The law says that all civil servants intending to vote should resign in February 2017 and that is what I will do when time comes,"he said.
