Nakuru county governor aspirant John Mututho has told locals not to vote for ‘foreigners’ in the 2017 race.
In a coded message targeted at the incumbent Kinuthia Mbugua, Mututho said voting for ‘outsiders’ is costing the county.
“In 2017 I am just requesting you not to vote for outsiders. Those people do not have the interests of this area at heart,” he said.
Speaking on Sunday, Mututho said he was born at Turi in Molo and he is therefore a true son of Nakuru county.
“Let us let those from Dagorreti go back there and vie there. The governor’s seat should be given to a local person and that person is shujaa John Mututho,” he said.
Governor Kinuthia Mbugua is reportedly from Dagoreti area.
Kinuthia’s ally, however, dismissed Mututho’s remarks.
“He is going round politicking yet it is not yet time for politics,” the ally said.
