Former NACADA chairman John Mututho has praised the move to withdraw National Transport and Safety Authority from the roads.
Mututho said the move by the president was long overdue.
Addressing the press in Naivasha, Mututho said NTSA has been unable to tame carnage.
“We welcome the move by the president and attention now turns to our traffic officers to man our roads and reduce the ongoing madness,” he said.
Mututho said that NTSA should learn from the counterparts in Australia who were keen to monitor the roads and warn motorists in advance of any looming danger like fog or fallen trees.
He also blamed trucks on the increase of road accidents.
“The heavy trucks are the monsters on our roads and their period of movement should be monitored and in future put in consideration their lanes when constructing the roads,” he said.
