Speaking to reporters at Naivasha town today, Mututho wondered why his interest in the gubernatorial seat had drawn harsh criticism from a section of leaders in the county.

Mututho said that his ambition for the seat was personal and didn’t expect harsh criticism from the people and leaders.

The former Naivasha MP said that as a Kenyan he has a right to opinion and information and that no one had a right to criticize his ambition.

“I will not be wavered by the criticism from some leaders who have questioned and condemned my interest in the Nakuru gubernatorial seat come 2017,” he said.

Mututho said that the constitution gives him the right to say what he wants so long as it does not interfere with the wellbeing of others.

He accused some of the county leaders who questioned his ambition being too afraid of him.

The National Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) chair further condemned suggestions from some county leaders asking him to keep of county politics.

Mututho said that as a national leader he must question and raise concerns when things are not being done well.

Last week, Mututho announced his intentions of vying for the Nakuru governor seat come 2017, a move that did not go well with some county leaders including governor Kinuthia Mbugua who lashed back accusing the Nacada chair of starting premature political campaigns.
