Speaking to the press after an impromptu visit on Thika based Vine Pack Limited on Tuesday, Mututho said that the agency has planned a series of inspections on alcohol manufactures after it emerged that some are operating illegally.

The Nacada chair warned that licenses of the manufactures that will be found to operating illegal will be revoked.

“We have organized a series of inspection to all liquor manufactures across the country in a bid to tame those operating illegally,” he said.

The chair also said that the agency is preparing policies that will ensure only approved liquor standards are given the green light to operate.

Mututho added that various measures have been put in place to regulate sell of alcohol this festive season. “We know Kenyans like to merry and enjoy themselves but they must do it with limits,” he said.

Mututho also said that they are working with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to ensure motorists don’t drink and drive.

He said those found flouting rules set in place by the agency would be arrested and charged in court.

At the same time Mututho warned students who recently finished their Kenya Certificate of Secondary education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) against indulging in alcohol.

He asked parents to be vigilant and monitor the behaviours of their children. Mututho noted that most teenagers indulge in drinking during the festive season.
