Mututho said the drug is causing deaths to many people.

“Though am no longer in NACADA it’s my duty as a patriotic Kenyan to pass the messages and warnings as I get them so that we can save our youths,” he said.

He said methanol is smuggled mostly during March and April.

“My sources have informed me that the illegal importation of the industrial spirit through panya routes on the border of Kenya and Tanzania is currently at its highest peak,” he said.

“In the country’s history, April has been the darkest month in the liquor industry with tens of lives lost and others turned blind due to the importation of the lethal spirit,” he added.

Mututho who was addressing the press in Naivasha on Tuesday at the same time questioned the move to downgrade Naivasha in terms of ranking.
