Former Nacada chairman John Mututho has joined the list of those contesting for the Nakuru governor seat.

Addressing the media in Naivasha on Sunday, Mututho announced that he will be in the race as an independent candidate.

He condemned the recent Jubilee Party nominations a sham, insisting that rigging was the dominant activity that saw Lee Kinyanjui declared the winner.

“It is clear the party primaries were marred by irregularities,” Mututho said.

He said the total votes for governor exceeded those cast for senator and woman representative posts after being exaggerated.

“You can count the votes and this will tell you the disparities, which means those who voted for the governor did not vote for either the senator or the woman representative,” Mutotho said.

He laid the rigging blame on incumbent Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and Kinyanjui.

Mututho however said he will not fight the entire party since he will be supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection.
