The National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) has now put on notice various counties over irregular issuance of liquor licences.
According to Nacada chairman John Mututho, tens of bars located in residential areas and near schools have been licensed to operate despite going against the law.
"We have seen cases where county liquor boards are licensing bars to operate next to schools and we shall take them to court," said the Nacada boss in Naivasha.
On Monday, Mututho identified Nakuru as one of the counties when it comes to licensing of bars located near schools.
Former Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara said the law gives the authority powers to sue the various liquor board with abuse of power over the illegal licensing.
"Any liquor licensing board that has contravened the law in the issuance the liquor licenses will be arraigned in court facing abuse of office charges," Kihara said.
Mututho who also former Naivasha MP, at the same time issued a warning to universities where the use of drugs and alcohol was rife, noting that they faced closure.
He noted that the use of drugs was rife in some private universities adding that the authority would name and shame them in the coming days.
He also put on notice importers of liquor that they would be charged if they found to be importing unfit products.
