Nacada chairman John Mututho has urged the government to arrest and prosecute members of the public who give out information about alcoblow crackdowns through social media

Mututho said that by giving out the information, members of the public affect their efforts to curb drunk driving on the roads.

“The people who post on twitter or on whattsup where the crackdown is being carried out not only affect our efforts to curb drunk driving, but also increase the rate at which people are using our roads recklessly,” said Mututho.

Speaking during a telephone interview with this writer on Sunday, Mututho said Nacada would partner with mobile service subscribers to track SMS and twitter messages of such persons.

“We will try to nab such people and ensure that they are prosecuted in law courts,” he added.

Mututho challenged Kenyans to ensure that they exercise precaution on the roads during the festive season, adding that they will involve the police in more patrols during the festive season.

“We will also be carrying out raids in bars and clubs to ensure that kenyans do not over drink and at the same time drive while drunk. We want them to enjoy their holiday season but exercise precaution at the same time,” said Mututho.
