During the commissioning of the vessel, the Head of State said that over 30, 000 persons will be using it on a daily basis, adding that his government will unveil more vessels at the channel to solve the problem of congestion once and for all.
"We will add more vessels at this channel when two new ferries arrive in June or July this year," he said.
President Kenyatta confirmed that his government will import two new vessels costing Sh2.2 billion from Turkey in the course of the year.
He further said that the State is committed to investing more funds in infrastructure in this region in order to boost the investment and tourism sector.
Uhuru, who was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto on Monday during the re-launch of the vessel, also said that the government will allocate more money towards water, electricity installation and roads in the region to make an investor hub.
"We are investing in water, electricity, and roads because we know they will attract investors to put up industries here, grow the economy and create jobs," he added.
