Nassir argued that amending the Constitution is not a bad thing so long as it is done with the interest of Kenyan’s in mind.

Speaking to journalists in Mvita Town on Monday, Nassir refuted claims that those calling for the amendment seek to create more political seats.

“We must stop these mentality that the push for the constitutional amendment is about the creation of political seats and put the interests of Kenyans first,” said Nassir.

Nassir said the current Constitution does not provide for inclusivity, a situation he said continues to cause negative ethnicity in the country.

The MP said that there is a need for proper laws especially in the management of elections in order to put an end to election fraud.

He asked Kenyans to air their views on the push for the constitutional amendment.

A section of leaders among them former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is proposing for a three-tier government for inclusivity.

However, Jubilee politicians led by Deputy President William Ruto are against the push, saying that the current constitution is well established thus there is no need to amended the law to create positions for election losers.

The constitutional amendment push is likely to gain more momentum in the coming days even as politicians engage in 2022 succession politics.
